Why rope access

Less rigging. Less disruption. More reach.

Scaffolding and MEWPs have their place. But to inspect, repair or maintain points at height, they are often the biggest part of the job. With ropes, access is rigged quickly and can be taken down at the end of the day if needed.

When scaffolding or a platform is the better option for your job, we will tell you.

  • 01

    Fast set-up

Anchors and ropes go up and come down quickly. There is no structure to erect, inspect and dismantle before and after the work.

  • 02

    Less disruption

Little kit on the ground, roads and entrances stay clear most of the time, and the building or plant keeps running.

  • 03

    Where access is difficult

Wind turbine blades, chimneys, silos, tall façades, slopes: places where scaffolding won't fit and a platform can't reach.

  • 04

    Hands-on, up close

The technician is within arm's reach of the surface. They see, measure, photograph and repair from the same access.

Our approach

Every job starts with planning.

We analyse access conditions, identify the risks and define the technical resources needed to carry out each job in a controlled way. The aim is to provide solutions suited to the client's needs, with attention to safety, quality of workmanship and operational continuity.

  1. 01

    Planning

We visit the site or review drawings and photographs. We define access, anchors, team, equipment and the sequence of work.

  2. 02

    Risk assessment

We identify the hazards of the site and the task, including those from third parties, and the control measures for each. The area below is cordoned off.

  3. 03

    Rescue plan

Before work starts, we define how a technician will be assisted and recovered in an emergency, with the necessary resources on site.

  4. 04

    Execution

Work carried out in a controlled way, with supervision, equipment checks and communication with your team.

  5. 05

    Record

At the end, we record what was done and the conditions found, in accordance with the contracted scope, so you can decide on next steps.

Safety

No rope without a plan.

Attention to safety runs through every stage of the work. Each technician is attached to two independent ropes, a working line and a back-up line, with checked equipment and a rescue plan defined for the site before work starts. Work is carried out in accordance with the qualifications required for each job.

  • Checked equipmentRopes, harnesses, connectors and descenders checked before every use, following the manufacturer's instructions.

FAQ

What clients ask us before going ahead.

If your question isn't here, call or write to us.

What kind of work does NORTHV carry out?

NORTHV provides specialist rope access, industrial maintenance, inspection, construction, energy and safety at height services. The scope of each job is defined according to the client's needs and the services available.

Where can the work be carried out?

Whether we can take on a job depends on the location, access conditions, the resources required and the project's requirements.

What is rope access?

It is a method of work at height in which technicians reach the work point suspended on ropes, attached to two independent lines: a working line and a back-up line. It is used to inspect, repair and maintain structures where scaffolding or platforms would be slow, expensive or impossible.

How is safety handled?

Through planning: analysis of access conditions, identification of risks, two independent ropes per technician, checked equipment, a rescue plan defined before going up and supervision on site.

When is it better value than scaffolding or a platform?

For localised work, inspections, hard-to-reach areas and jobs where erecting scaffolding would be bigger than the job itself. On long projects with many trades on the same elevation, scaffolding may be the better option, and we will tell you so.

What do you need to prepare a quote?

The location, a description of the work, photographs and, if available, drawings or previous reports. Please also tell us how the roof or the top of the structure is accessed and whether there are any time restrictions or site rules.

Do you provide a report?

We record the conditions found and document the results in accordance with the contracted scope, with photographs and the location of each point.

Do you work for private clients?

Yes, mainly on façades, roofs and lifelines. Most of our work is for companies, building owners and public bodies.
